This guide walks you from a new assistant to your first live call. You build the assistant in the Ciao console, test it in your browser, connect a phone number, and publish.
Before you start
You will need:
- A WorksBuddy workspace with Ciao enabled. The Ciao console is at ciao.worksbuddy.ai.
- A Twilio or Plivo account with at least one phone number, if you want to take or place phone calls. Browser calls and chats need no phone number.
- A clear idea of the call: who the assistant talks to, what it should say, and what a good call ends with.
Steps
Create an assistant. Go to Agents and create an assistant. Start from an industry template, describe what you need to the AI Builder, or build it from scratch.
Write its instructions and choose a voice. Describe who the assistant is, what it should collect, and when the call is done. Choose its language and voice, and listen to a voice preview before you commit.
Add your documents. Attach a knowledge base so the assistant can answer from your FAQs, policies, pricing, and product details.
Test it in your browser. Talk to the assistant from the console before any customer hears it. Interrupt it, ask hard questions, and switch languages to see how it responds.
Connect a phone number. Go to Telephony and connect your Twilio or Plivo account. Add a phone number and assign it to the assistant. Each number carries one live call at a time, so add more numbers to run more calls at once.
Publish and call. Publish the assistant. An unpublished assistant cannot take calls. Once it is live, calls to its number reach the assistant, and you can place outbound calls one at a time, as a batch, or through the API.
Review the results. Open the call history to read each call's transcript, summary, and outcome, and play back the recording.
