Custom Fields

Define project-specific columns across seven field types, then filter, sort, and edit them inline across every task view.

Custom Fields let you define project-specific columns from seven types, then filter, sort, and edit those values across all task views.

How it works

Custom fields are created per project from the project settings Fields tab. Name the field, choose one of seven types (text, number, date, boolean, select, URL, email), and save. The field immediately appears as a column in List view and is available in the task detail panel for every task in that project. Project owners and contributors can add fields; viewers cannot. Existing tasks start with an empty value, and you can bulk-fill values from List view. Fields are project scoped, so a field defined in one project does not appear in another.

Key capabilities

  • Seven field types cover text, number, date, boolean, select, URL, and email data.
  • Filter on custom fields with type-appropriate operators and combine them with built-in filters (status, assignee, priority, due date) using AND logic.
  • Type-aware sorting: numbers sort numerically, dates chronologically, selects alphabetically.
  • Select fields use a defined option list with optional colors, displayed as color-coded pills in List view and on Kanban cards.
  • Fields render across all six views (List, Kanban, Calendar, Gantt, Bug Tracker, and Custom tabs); show or hide columns per view.
  • Inline editing from any view, with no need to open the task detail panel.
  • Reorder or delete fields per project; deletion is permanent and confirmed with a count of affected tasks.
  • Bulk edit any field type across multiple selected tasks, logged per task in activity history.

Tips

Deleting a custom field removes it and its values from all tasks and views permanently, and the values cannot be recovered.
